High street spending contracts

From Reuters: "Home improvements chain Focus DIY is set to appoint administrators."  The growth & recovery story on the high street continues....this will be positive for GDP.

Update - 10 May, apparently everythings back to normal, it's all good in fact.  The British Retail Consortium (representing the major players) said sales were up 5.2% in one month. "Champagne and garden furniture were among the items most in demand as the nation celebrated the royal wedding during the sunniest April on record." That's good, it is comforting to know that the UK economic recovery now rests on how much garden furniture and fizzy wine we buy.  The BRC did acknowledge that rising costs and falling disposable income would be " problems for many months to come."  How about many more years to come?
